In our personal lives, we’re accustomed to immediate and live-updating tracking when we order something – this is what dealers and customers expect from OEMs. However, providing accurate ETAs for shipments remains a challenge. This is often cited as a significant pain point – lack of visibility, inaccurate information, no updates – all erodes trust at both the dealer and customer level. This session will focus on ways OEMs have been working to improve their ETA capabilities. We’ll briefly touch on the inbound side (what visibility do OEMs get from their suppliers), but the focus will be on visibility provided to dealers and customers. Do OEMs provide live updates or a static ETA? How is this communicated to dealers and customers? Who is responsible for that communication? Are OEMs integrating with carrier systems to provide more accurate ETAs? We have covered visibility in past NAPB sessions, so this will focus on recent updates OEMs have made.
